NEW DELHI, 10 July 2025: Argentina on Tuesday reiterated its commitment to strengthening agricultural collaboration with India, highlighting the sector as a cornerstone of bilateral relations. The statement came during the inaugural session of the 16th Agriculture Leadership Conclave 2025, currently underway in New Delhi.
Speaking at the two-day conclave, Ambassador of Argentina to India, H.E. Mariano Caucino, said that the partnership between the two countries is grounded in shared values and complementary strengths across the agricultural spectrum.
He recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent official visit to Buenos Aires, during which he met Argentinian President Javier Milei. “The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to democratic values, the rule of law, free markets, entrepreneurship, and investment,” the Ambassador said.
Agriculture featured prominently in their discussions, alongside cooperation in energy, lithium, and trade liberalisation.
A key outcome from the visit was the announcement of a Second Joint Working Group (JWG) meeting on agriculture, scheduled to take place in Buenos Aires next week. The delegation will include representatives from India’s Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The JWG aims to formalise a joint roadmap for agricultural technology sharing, innovation, and sustainability.
The Ambassador noted that Argentina brings global leadership in conservation practices, including no-till farming, precision agriculture, and animal health, while India has made strides in organic farming, bio-inputs, superfoods, and climate-resilient crops.
“Together, by combining India’s agricultural heritage and Argentina’s technological expertise, we can promote innovation and food security while supporting sustainable development,” he said.
The Agriculture Leadership Conclave, now in its 16th edition, serves as a key platform for global and domestic agri-leaders to exchange ideas, set collaborative agendas, and frame a future-ready roadmap for Indian agriculture.
