India's Kharif crop sowing down to 102.8mn hectares

As per the figures released by the Indian agriculture ministry, India's kharif crop as on 1 September 2017 is recorded at 102.81 million hectares, as compared to 103.42 million hectares recorded during the same time last year.

NEW DELHI: As per the figures released by the Indian agriculture ministry, India's kharif crop as on 1 September 2017 is recorded at 102.81 million hectares, as compared to 103.42 million hectares recorded during the same time last year.

The data shows that rice has been sown/transplanted in 36.63 million ha, pulses in 13.76 million ha, coarse cereals in 18.06 million ha, sugarcane in 4.98 million hectare and cotton in 11.98 million ha.                                                    

The details of the area covered so far and that covered during this time last year are given below:
