[full_story] => NEW DELHI, 17 March 2026: The Government’s flagship digital agriculture platform National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) has integrated 1,656 mandis across 23 States and 4 Union Territories, enabling INR 4.82 lakh crore worth of agricultural trade since its launch in 2016.
Expanding Digital Marketplace for Farmers
As of February 28, 2026:
1.80 crore farmers and 2.72 lakh traders are registered on the platform
4,724 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) have been onboarded
Total trade volume has reached 13.22 crore metric tonnes
Total trade value stands at INR 4,82,350 crore
The platform connects farmers to a nationwide pool of buyers, ensuring transparent online bidding and better price discovery.
e-NAM enables:
Access to buyers beyond local mandis
Competitive price discovery through online auctions
Direct transfer of sale proceeds into farmers’ bank accounts
This has significantly improved price realisation and market access for farmers across India.
In a move toward smart agriculture, 134 mandis in Rajasthan are now using AI and machine learning-based systems for quality assaying of agricultural commodities.
These technologies help:
Reduce testing time
Improve accuracy in quality assessment
Enhance trust in digital transactions
To strengthen mandi infrastructure, the government provides grant assistance of up to INR 75 lakh per mandi under the scheme.
This support includes:
Quality testing laboratories
Electronic weighing systems
Cleaning, grading, and packaging units
IT infrastructure such as computers, printers, and software
Composting units and allied facilities
Since its inception, e-NAM has played a crucial role in:
Digitising agricultural markets
Integrating fragmented mandi systems
Promoting unified national agriculture markets
With increasing adoption of AI, digital platforms, and FPO participation, e-NAM is emerging as a cornerstone of India’s agri-market reforms, driving efficiency, transparency, and better incomes for farmers.
