The company said FarmRise has emerged as one of India’s largest farmer-centric agri-tech platforms by offering agronomy advice, local weather updates, mandi prices, government schemes and crop-specific guidance through a multilingual mobile interface.
Available in more than nine Indian languages including Hindi, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu, the platform is designed to simplify digital access for farmers, including first-time smartphone users.
A major feature of the platform is its anti-counterfeit scanning capability, which enables farmers to verify agricultural product authenticity directly through the app. Bayer said the feature has recorded more than 10 million scans so far.
FarmRise also integrates an AI-powered chatbot launched in 2025 that provides instant crop and farm advisory support in local languages. The chatbot has already handled more than 25,000 farmer queries, reducing dependence on physical advisory channels.
Simon Wiebusch said the company sees technology as a tool to strengthen trust and improve farmer engagement at scale.
“FarmRise is not just an app, it is becoming a strong digital foundation for how we engage with farmers at scale,” he said.
FarmRise forms part of Bayer’s broader Direct-to-Farmer (D2F) digital ecosystem, which includes platforms focused on market access, credit, insurance and sustainable farming.
FarmRise One supports more than 500 Farmer Producer Organisations and over 200,000 farmers by connecting them with agri-input suppliers, lenders and buyers.
Meanwhile, Alivio uses high-resolution satellite data to provide plot-level risk protection for small farmers facing weather uncertainties. The platform currently supports crops such as onion and corn and is expected to expand to additional crops this year.
Bayer has also deployed Ask Deena to promote Direct Seeded Rice (DSR) cultivation practices under its DirectAcres initiative. The chatbot has engaged over 25,000 farmers across key rice-growing states.
Bayer said its phygital strategy blends field-level agricultural expertise with AI and digital intelligence to provide personalised and scalable interventions for farmers.
The company added that its growing digital ecosystem aims to support farmers not only in crop advisory, but also in sustainability, risk management and market access as India’s agri-tech sector continues to evolve rapidly.
