INDORE, 9 September 2021: Shakti Pumps (India) Ltd, the World's largest manufacturer and supplier of Solar pumps and Motorized pumps has announced the successful installation and commissioning of North Eastern Region's 1st high-altitude Solar Pumps Project in Mizoram.

Shakti pumps was commissioned to install Solar Pumps at an altitude of approx. 4000ft in Sialhawk village, Mizoram; thus, making it North Eastern Region’s first-ever High-Altitude Solar Project.

The Sialhawk (Solar Pumping) Water Supply Scheme holds the distinction of being the Largest & Highest Solar Pumping station commissioned for the sole purpose of providing Drinking Water to the village.

Speaking on this, Shakti Pumps (India) chairman and managing director Dinesh Patidar said, “As North Eastern Region’s first-ever High-Altitude Solar pumping station, this project is historic and will provide the much-needed access to drinking water, a basic human entitlement to the residents of Sialhawk."

Under this marquee project the company has installed 8 Solar pump sets of 75 HP (Horse Power), highest amongst similar projects in Mizoram. Of the 8 solar pump sets installed, 4 pump sets will be working and 4 have been reserved to be on standby. The Solar Pumps project will lift water from the river to a tank (with a capacity of 3 Lakhs Litre) in four stages.

The total vertical height from the riverside to the hilltop water-tank is approx. 900meters and the total length of pipeline used to lift the water is approx. 7000meters.

The Clean & Green power based Sialhawk Solar Pumping Station has resolved the issues relating to transporting fuel on a daily basis to keep the diesel pump running and dependency on electricity and other problems such as power cables and availability of transformers at this high-altitude which would have otherwise been required.

"This project is a cornerstone of technology playing a key role in development. We are always keen to execute such developmental projects as they go a long way in helping with modernization and addressing social needs, which is also in-line with our company’s vision & mission.” Patidar added.

The company has successfully completed the trial run of the Sialhawk Solar Pumping Station Project and will be operational, post completion of civil works.

The Sialhawk Solar Pumping Station will provide access to drinking water and supply to over 4,000 residents of Sialhawk village in Mizoram.
